Chief Grant began his Law Enforcement career in 1978 as a Military Policeman assigned to t he Provost Marshals Office in Atlanta, GA. While there, he received specialized training on Questioned documents, burglary and riot control from Clayton County Regional Police Academy. He also served as Honor Guard.
Chief Grant also worked as a patrolman for the Dalton Police Department
and as a patrol supervisor for the Adairsville Police Department. Chief Grant worked as a Lieutenant for the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice where he was responsible for the safety and security of Juvenile offenders and Field Based Investigations. He has been with the Varnell Police Department since 2003. Chief Grant graduated from Dalton High School in 1976, Military Police School in 1978, Los Angeles Community College 1981, Clayton County Regional Police Academy - 1982, north Central Georgia Police Academy – 1985, Dalton College 1989 – 1997, Georgia police Academy - 2000, and Chief Executive Training – 2008.
Lyle has been married to his wife Debra for 30+ years. They have two children, Laura Grant and Sgt. Steven Grant with GA National Guard. They are members of McFarland Hill Baptist Church. Psalm 37:1-4.

Scott started his law enforcement career in 1993 at the age of twenty as a Detention Officer with the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office. From there, Lt. Casey worked for the Dalton Police Department for 11½ years. While employed with Dalton Police Department, Lt. Casey worked as a Patrol Officer, Bicycle patrol and in the Detective Office. Scott has several instructor certifications and is currently pursuing his college degree through Thomas University.
Scott and his wife Jenny have three children – Damien, Issac and Matthew.
