The Varnell Library was begun as a
group of ladies in the community who loved reading and wanted to be
able to have a way to exchange books with one another. In 1986,
one of the local Boy Scouts expanded their reading group into a book
exchange library as an Eagle project. The City of Varnell
provided a place and soon work was begun to install shelving and begin
cataloging the books. Since that time through donations and
careful searching through book sales, the library boasts a collection
of near 4,000 books. In addition, we are expanding a local
history and genealogy project in conjunction with the Varnell
Heritage Center.
Current hours
are Monday and Wednesday, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., excepting holidays.
We have one full time volunteer and welcome anyone interested in
volunteering and helping to expand our hours.
